The Nature-Safe 72 is a seventy two LED
light available in either Red or Amber which provides two
different modes of nature friendly operation.
It is designed for use in indoor or outdoor
applications to replace traditional incandescent lighting sources which affect
nesting Sea Turtles and other endangered animals. By using the longer
wavelength 625 to 650 nm red light, these lights are the least disruptive to all
nesting animals, especially Sea Turtles.
The Red light is a better solution to all
species of sea turtles than is the 580-620 nm wavelengths seen on Yellow and
Amber lights.
This Nature-Safe 72 is a three inch
diameter PCB light module using ultra bright LED's that have life expectancy of
over 50,000 hours of operation and do not change wavelength as they age.
This LED light module is designed to be
integrated into existing recessed lighting fixtures.
Beach Lighting Rules of Thumb:
1. Keep it Low. Must be mounted as low, vertically, as possible to allow
accomplishment of the task at hand.
2. Keep it shielded. Shield all fixtures and point in a downward
direction.
a.
Do not shine any light on the beach.
b.
Sky Glow is undesirable.
3. Keep it long. The longer wavelengths are better. 620 nm to 660 nm
(wavelength for the visible red is the ideal wavelength.
